We're French, We're Here, Now Deal With It ...

Yesterday, Big Guy, Toes and I were meeting in the Oval about a speech later this week after O got back from his golf outing at Andrews Air Force Base.

Then the national security team showed up with breaking news: gay French protesters took to the street of Paris to march against Big Guy, unhappy with the Obama Administration's actions on behalf of the gays. This was kind of important to know, because later today, we're throwing a big party for gays, lesbians, transgenders, and anyone else who lives an alternative lifestyle.

Big Guy wasn't surprised that French gays were protesting, since most French people protest or go on strike almost every week. Or that you couldn't tell the French gays from the straight French. What really floored him was how few it appeared there were marching, since he'd assumed a lot more had voted for him in the general election.

  1. Since they never read the bills they pass, maybe the Dems can pass a bill that anyone in the world who wants to vote for the Dems will be allowed to do so. One thing I do know: if teleprompters were allowed to vote, we wouldn't have BO in the White House.

"Couldn't tell the French gays from the straight French"
    Funny!

  3. And what verb will he use in his statement? Will he be appalled? Disappointed? Shocked? He hasn't used "dumbfounded" yet. That should certainly make its way into the verb rotation.

  4. Totus, can you scroll this for the Big Guy: "Let me make myself perfectly clear...I don't know what the h- I'm talking about."

  5. Dumbfounded would have been a good verb for his comment on Honduras.

Like everyone else in the US (excepting perhaps George Will), he had no clue where Honduras was, much less, what the coup was all about.

By the way, I think Hillary (SecState) said "let it be," whereas the Big Guy said it was "illegal."

  6. Writer X, I believe the term you are looking for is "adjective." :P

  7. He won't use dumbfounded because it might lead to a reference to "Dumbo ears". Hits too close to home.

If you were one of the millions of people (like me) who did NOT watch the Obama infomercial on his Health Care Plan, you missed what he said when asked if he would be willing to promise that he wouldn't "seek extraordinary help for his wife or daughters if they became sick and the public plan he's proposing limited the tests or treatment they can get."

Here is a link to a video of that moment: http://tiny.cc/1An1I

    And here is his answer:
--- "... I think families all across America are going through decisions like that all the time. and you're absolutely right that if it's my family member, my wife, if it's my children, if it's my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care. but here's the problem that we have in our current health care system. Is that there is a whole bunch of care that's being provided that every study, every bit of evidence that we have indicates may not be making us healthier." ---

Of course, he side-stepped making that promise. Big Guy has the a natural gift of talking in circles and not directly answering a question.

Apparently, his Sec of HHS, K. Sebilius, has a similar gift. Here is a link to the transcript of last Sunday's "Fox News Sunday", where Brett Baier (guest host) asked Sebilius about the Health Care Plan. http://tiny.cc/XI3r3

They should start a new show called "Dancing Around the Issues with the Obama Cabinet".

  8. Writer X, Don't worry about. BO doesn't know what a P/E ratio is and he's running our economy (into the ground.)

  9. If ObamaCare is such a damn fine plan, why does the bill as drafted exempt members of Congress? It's not good enough for Barry. Or Michelle. Or the girls - or the dog. But it's good enough for you.
    ObamaCare: Sham. Wow!

  10. Maybe he will slip away from you TOTUS and quip an offensive joke about gays just like he did when he was on Leno regarding the mentally impaired.

  11. Dang, Greg J--you're right. Of course I meant to say adjective. :-) Clearly the Obamaness is starting to ruin my brain.

  12. If the French are marching in unison in one direction the Germans can't be far behind.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "...why does the bill as drafted exempt members of Congress?"

    As well as Federal Employees?

And on their proposal to tax people's employer supplies health benefits to pay for the plan (to make it "deficit neutral"), Congress, Fed Employees as well as UNION WORKERS, are all exempt from that taxation.

Union workers? Hmmm. That's odd. Why specifically union members - why not everyone or no one? Brett Baier asked Kathleen S about that very thing -

----- BAIER: At least one of the Senate plans tax health benefits at specific levels but gives an exemption for union workers. Is that fair?

SEBELIUS: Well, I think that, again, the goal is not to dismantle health coverage that people have right now, not to discourage employers from offering health benefits, and taxing employer benefits, I think, is a way to begin to discourage employers from offering coverage.

A hundred and eighty million people have coverage provided by their employers, and we want to find a way to stabilize that system, not dismantle the system. ------

I don't know about YOU, but I don't think that she really answered the question. Brett should have asked a follow-up question. Well, I will:

SO, MADAM SECRETARY, is the aim of the plan to just destabilize/dismantle the system for NON-union workers?

Here is a link to the transcript of that interview - http://tiny.cc/XI3r3

  15. TOTUS - how upset is the Big Guy about someone finding out about the suppressiong of the EPA report disputing global warning?:

    http://tiny.cc/sDlgO

--The 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin, pushed back on the prospect of regulating gases like carbon dioxide as a way to reduce global warming. Carlin's report argued that the information the EPA was using was out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined.--

  16. I think it is quite clear by now that this Guy is making friends wherever he goes. Missiles launched in the name of 'peace & unity' and protests galore. Of course, all of this is 'Bush's Fault' (trademark). The media is dutifully keeping this line of 'reasoning & rationalizing' happily afloat.

  17. BO doesn't appear to have ANY competence with numbers; check out his plans for our economy.

  18. Apparently BO spoke out on Sunday. He was quicker to react to the military coup than he was to react to the treatment of the people protesting in Iran.

--"I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses," the president said, standing alongside Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the White House.--

WOW! coupled with airing up your tires and painting all roofs and roads white, BO and Chu have solved the energy crisis! We won't need the Cap and Trade legislation to force us to use less oil.

--"We believe that the coup was not legal and that President Zelaya remains the president of Honduras, the democratically elected president there," Obama told reporters after an Oval Office meeting with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. --

Secretary of State Clinton said something today that is a little bit different than what her boss said:

--Despite Obama's comments, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the administration was not formally designating the ouster as a military coup for now, a step that would force a cut-off of most U.S. aid to Honduras.--

She better watch out after what happened the last time she publicly disagreed with BO!

Anyway, after he spoke out about Honduras, he went on to address a much more important matter - lightbulbs!

"I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses," the president said, standing alongside Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the White House.

  19. wow, was that a screwed up post! My pc is going nuts here. It pasted stuff in places that I did not intend to paste! Hmmm. The NSA hired a hacker recently...

Anyway, here is what I intended to say. Just ignore that last mess.

  20. Good points, Jamie!

Hey, I posted this on the earlier thread, too:

I have GOOD NEWS! Evidently the 8 Republicans who voted for Cap & Trade can CHANGE their votes, if they do so by Wed., July 1st.

(I wonder why THREE of them are from New Jersey! Hmm........?)

QUICKLY: Call or fax them on TUESDAY, June 30, at the following numbers (which are NOT in D.C., because Congress members are on "working vacations" in their own districts----so the following are their district offices' numbers):

    Eastern Time Zone:
    Mike Castle R (DW) (302) 428-1902
    (Fax = 302-428-1950)

    Mark Steven Kirk R (IL) (847) 940-0202
    (Fax = 847-940-7143)

    Leonard Lance R (NJ) (908) 518-7733
    (Fax = 908-518-7751)

    Frank LoBiondo R (NJ) (609) 625-5008
    (Fax = 609-625-5071)

    Chris Smith R (NJ) (609) 585-7878
    (Fax = 609-585-9155)

    John McHugh R (NY) (315) 782-3150
    (Fax = 315-782-1291)

    Pacific Time Zone:
    Mary Bono Mack R (CA) (760) 320-1076
    (Fax = 760-320-0596)

    Dave Reichert R (WA) (206) 275-3438
    (Fax = 206-275-3437)

Wouldn't it be COOL if they changed their votes in time!? CALL OR FAX THEM TUESDAY!

Lord, Cap and Trade will completely ruin our economy and make it very hard for American businesses to compete on world markets---without substantially decreasing pollution! It's designed to ruin businesses, so Obama can once again "rescue" them---ie. take them over!

  21. I have yet to understand why he even used the term lightbulbs in connection with sexy... what freakin' kind of sex life does he have, anyway??? or not have...?

I heard that comment, and it's as inane as anything else he says

    complete imbecile

  22. Totus! You have been bad again today... "Sexy" lightbulbs and the word "green" two or three times in every paragraph? That's HGTV talk. Too funny. Are you scrolling silly stuff again knowing Big Guy won't even have a clue what he's saying until after it leaves his mouth? You kidder!

  23. Also on Bret Baier's show tonight they discussed the new commander's plan in Afghanistan with a woman who reported that the latest thought as handed down to Gen. McChrystal by Afghan President Karzai is that the most important element of the mission is to avoid killing civilians. Did any one else hear that report? Did I misunderstand what they said? THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF OUR MISSION????

So our children go there not to win the war against an enemy who's desire is to wipe us out at all costs, but we must dance the dance of political correctness around villages where the enemy hides out, ramps up, regroups and has an arsenal at the ready to take us out? AND we shouldn't use so many air strikes. Seriously?

They were thoughtful to point out that this strategy means our troops will be there for a very long time.

All that and they are no longer focusing on taking out the poppy fields where they harvest their drug trade that pays for their weapons that kill and maim our sons and daughters. That was the impression the report left me with.

I just wondered if I missed something in there.Tell me I was still just mesmerized by Big Guy saying "sexy" lightbulbs and got it all wrong.

Is every day opposite day in Obama-nation?

  29. "and anyone else who lives an alternative lifestyle"

    Wouldn't that be all democrats?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, I think that's the first time in history that "lightbults" and "sexy" were used in the same sentence. It's probably the first time a President used it. I also noted the silence afterward, because he is apparently the only one who thinks lightbulbs contain some degree of sex appeal. Clearly, the lights weren't on upstairs when he thought of that one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think we missed the OTHER part of what he was saying. Now, not only is the government going to tell us what light bulbs we can use, they are going to tell us what stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc, etc, we can buy.

Carol Brauner (the energy CZAR) was musing not too long ago about having someone come up with a device that they can install in our houses so they can control exactly how much electricity we use. For example, in the dead heat of summer (like today, when it's 96 degrees outside), it would not allow us to bump up the air conditioner if we were exceeding our allotment for the day.

The Cap&Trade bill contains language in it that requires California building codes to be adopted across the nation. Gee, and California is in such good shape financially, aren't they?

Some idiot in Congress the other day was pontificating about how California had made such wonderful changes there to reduce consumption of energy that they did not have to build 35 new power plants, or some such nonsense as that. Has the fool not noticed that California has to BUY power from neighboring states? That California has rolling brownouts and sometimes blackouts because they DON'T HAVE ENOUGH power plants?

I think this lightbulb thing is just the beginning.
